How to Use Test My Mics

The Test My Mics tool allows you to quickly check whether your browser currently has permission to access microphones connected to your computer. This can help you verify your privacy settings and ensure that websites are not able to listen to your microphone without your knowledge.

  1. Click the “Scan Microphone Permissions” button. The tool will request permission from your browser to check available microphone devices.
  2. Review the results displayed on the screen. The scan will show whether microphone access is currently granted and which microphone devices are detected.
  3. Check your browser permissions if access is enabled. If microphone access is active and you did not expect it, open your browser’s site settings and review the microphone permissions for this website.
  4. Disable access if needed. Most browsers allow you to revoke microphone access directly from the address bar or through the browser privacy settings.
  5. Re-run the scan after making changes. After adjusting permissions, click the scan button again to confirm that microphone access has been disabled or updated.

Note: Browsers can only report microphone permissions granted to websites. Desktop applications such as streaming software, communication apps, or recording programs may still access your microphone independently.
