Level Layout Drawer

How to Use the Level Layout Drawer

The Level Layout Drawer is a lightweight dungeon and map sketching tool designed for tabletop RPG players and Dungeon Masters. It allows you to quickly design simple grid-based layouts for dungeons, towns, battle maps, or exploration areas directly in your browser.

  1. Select a Tile Type
Use the tile palette at the top of the page to choose the terrain or tile type you want to draw with. Each tile represents a different surface such as grass, water, stone, sand, lava, wood, or dirt.
  2. Choose the Grid Size
Use the grid selector to change the map size. Larger grids allow for more complex layouts, while smaller grids are perfect for quick dungeon sketches or encounter maps.
  3. Draw Your Layout
Click on any grid square to place the selected tile. Continue clicking across the grid to build rooms, corridors, terrain features, or entire level layouts.
  4. Clear the Map
Use the Clear button if you want to wipe the grid and start over with a fresh layout.
  5. Save Your Map
Click Save .dware to download your layout file. This custom file format stores your entire grid so you can reopen it later.
  6. Load a Saved Map
Use the Load .dware button to import a previously saved layout and continue editing it.
